Ron Fineman, a longtime California broadcast journalist and author of the Los Angeles television-insider "On the Record" website, died Saturday at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Santa Clarita after a lengthy battle with colon cancer. He was 54.

First colonoscopy with removal of polyps linked to reduction in colon cancer death
Philadelphia, PA, October 15, 2007 – Using a model to predict reductions in death from colorectal cancer, epidemiologists and clinical researchers from Memorial Sloan-Kettering looked at the relative effect of an initial screening colonoscopy which clears pre-cancerous polyps from the colon versus surveillance follow-up colonoscopy.
