Pfizer pancreatic cancer drug fails, trial halted

Pfizer Inc, in its latest research setback, said on Friday it stopped a late stage study of an experimental drug to treat advanced pancreatic cancer after an independent monitoring board found no evidence that it prolongs survival.

Freedom High Mourns Death Of 38-Year-Old Teacher, Coach

Eric Olsen, a history teacher and the head cross-country and boys' lacrosse coach at Freedom High School in South Riding, died Sunday after a battle with colon cancer.

Praisner Diagnosed With Cancer

Montgomery County Councilmember Don Praisner underwent surgery Monday, after doctors diagnosed him with colon cancer last week. "He is still in the hospital waiting on results from a biopsy," Montgomery County Council Spokesman Neil Greenberger said Wednesday.
